Museums of Science and History (MoSH)

Located in Memphis, TN, MoSH is a well-established 501c3 that seeks to create a 

community of people who share a richer understanding of one another and the world around us. MoSH consists of the Pink Palace Museum, the Lichterman Nature Center, the Coon Creek Science Center, and other historical properties. We inspire discovery through collecting, preserving, and interpreting the cultural histories and natural sciences that shape our region.

Responsibilities

Working under the Director of Exhibits & Collections, the Assistant Curator is primarily responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all temporary and traveling exhibits. 

She/He/They may also assist with research and assets for the development of permanent exhibitions as well. Specifically, duties include: 

● Creating object lists 

● Drafting content briefs, summaries, and label copy

● Researching and securing relevant assets and permissions

● Assisting with daily exhibit maintenance, including turning lights on and off and cleaning

● Corresponding with other MoSH departments and outside partners/sponsors 

● Assisting with exhibition budgeting 

● Other duties as requested Requirements

Education, Experience and Requirements: 

The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in understanding how complex exhibitions are developed and executed, be a stellar researcher and collaborator, and have an eye for detail. 

Experience with historical research is a must. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in Museum Studies or a related field is preferred.

Compensation

Compensation for this position is $50,000 with benefits. The Museum offers a full range of benefits, including health care, vacation and sick leave, 401k, and death and disability insurance. The Museum also offers life, dental and vision insurance.
