The workshops will emphasize:
• How to create a suitable storage environment for archival materials, historic textiles, artifacts, photos, and most types of museum objects.
• How to care for and document small collections housed in historic sites, libraries, and other historical societies.
• The basics of collections management including assigning and affixing numbers.
This workshop is presented by the Tennessee State Library and Archives and the Tennessee State Museum and is funded by a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services.

The Tennessee Council for History Education (TNCHE) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the importance of history in schools and in society. TNCHE links history in the schools with many activities sponsored by state and local organizations. We provide a communications network for all advocates of history education, whether in schools, colleges, museums, historical councils, or community groups. As such, TNCHE would like to invite those of you from historical sites or institutions to become active members, participants, or partners with us.

Jekyll Island Management Institute (JIMI)

This annual Institute provides an eight-day, total immersion environment professionals to learn more about general administration and operations. JIMI gives administrators the key resources imperative to orchestrating personnel efficiency, staff morale and overall organizational improvement.
JIMI offers opportunities for participants to learn management skills through presentations, small group discussions, projects and participatory exercises. Participants discover their management styles through self-tests and activities, groups project assignments and presentations.
Scholarship money is available through the Peter La Paglia Scholarship Fund.
